Sizzle to help injured rider

FRIENDS of a young Pakenham man severely injured last week in a motorbike accident are rallying to help him.
Casey Cherry was badly hurt when he fell off his bike while working as a jackeroo on a family friend’s remote outback station 200 kilometres north of Broken Hill.
News of the 20-year-old’s accident sent shockwaves through the town.
The Cherry family is well-known for its involvements in sporting and community organisations.
Stunned friends and workmates have vowed to do everything they can for Casey, a popular sportsman and employee at surf shop Cactus Black in Pakenham.
Cactus Black operator Gavin Bindley said people had been in the shop all week asking about Casey’s condition.
“He has worked here since he was 15, it’s been very tough for everyone. We just want to help him and his family get through this,” Mr Bindley said.
A sausage sizzle will be held outside the shop in John Street next Thursday, 5 April.
A fundraising dinner is also being organised at Clover Cottage, Berwick.
