FORTY-NINE centimetres off her ponytail was a “massive change” for Pakenham mum Kate McCrory.
She will donate her long locks to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign.
Kate is also helping her family friend David raise money for his Ride to Conquer Cancer challenge.
“I have a family friend who I have known for quite some years who is doing the 200-kilometre Ride to Conquer Cancer,” she said.
“He has to raise $2500, and I thought I have long hair, let’s cut it off.
“It will be a massive change and easier with a 17-month-old son.”
But the reason David is doing the ride is even more special. In July, his niece Bethany lost her battle with cancer. She had been fighting non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma for 18 months.
“It’s a pretty personal event for me and my family,” David said.
Kate has raised between $300-$400 so far, and said she was really happy with the change, especially for a good cause.
