Young and old integrate

FOSTERING a friendship between the young and those who are young at heart, Cardinia Waters Village residents welcomed Lakeside Lutheran College students recently.
As part of an ‘Integration in Community’ subject at school, students visited the village and participated in a range of activities.
Village resident Helen Byrne said one of the ladies showed the students how to make green and gold felt daffodils and she was impressed with the “looks of delight” on the faces of the boys and girls.
They also played card games, made greeting cards, learnt about indoor bowling and listened to some of the students perform.
The visit came about as an idea from one of the teachers, whose grandparents are residents at the village.
“It was a lovely afternoon,” she said.
“They were all very polite, we had afternoon tea and they were so well behaved it was delightful.”
