New life for sports centre

THE Casey Indoor Leisure Centre is now managed by the YMCA which will give local sporting associations more control of their competitions.
The council owned facility, located in Cranbourne, will be managed by the YMCA after the current management arrangement with Life. Be In It. – Sport for All finished on 30 June.
City of Casey Mayor Amanda Stapledon said the new management arrangement would enable resident sporting associations to take ownership of their respective competitions at the centre.
“While the YMCA will manage the centre, the Casey Basketball Association and the Cranbourne South West Netball Association will have the opportunity to take ownership and effective control of their respective competitions at the centre,” she said.
“This is an excellent opportunity for these associations to develop their sports and collaborate with Basketball Victoria and Netball Victoria to build strong and sustainable competition in the area.”
Cr Stapledon said the centre has been well used by the community in the past 20 years.
“The council appreciates the long-term dedication of Life. Be In It. – Sport for All to the Casey Indoor Leisure Centre and to the many visitors who have enjoyed sporting competitions and leisure activities there,” she said.
Other council facilities managed by the YMCA include Casey ARC, the Doveton Pool in the Park, Berwick Leisure Centre, Endeavour Hills Leisure Centre and Casey RACE, which is next to the Casey Indoor Leisure Centre.
