WHEN Michael Woodberry proposed to his girlfriend of six years, true to form he asked her ’would you like to wear this ring?’ and of course, she said, ‘yes’.
Kate said the pair were married on 1 December 2012 at Amberlee Receptions, Cranbourne.
“We have been together almost six years and have a three-and-a-half-year-old son.”
Michael, 32, has lived in Pakenham all of his life and is an electrician. Kate is originally from Cranbourne and works as a childcare worker.
“My bridesmaids wore black and white dresses with red and white roses,” she said.
“I wore a white lace dress and had white roses. Michael and the groomsmen all wore grey pinstripe suits with white roses as button holes and our son Chase wore a black with white pinstripe suit.
“While the proposal wasn’t overly romantic, it was exactly the way Kate wanted it.
“Michael proposed to me on 19 October 2009 at home,” she said.
“He isn’t a hopeless romantic, but it was still very sweet and I didn’t get asked if I would marry him.
“His words were, with the ring box open ” would you like to wear this?” And of course I said yes!”
Chase was the ring-bearer on the day and there were disposable cameras on all tables in the reception.
“When Michael and I were having our wedding waltz, Chase kept coming up to us with a camera taking photos and telling us to say cheese,” Kate said.
Bridesmaids were Kate’s sister Beth Stevens, best friend Sarah Van Oirschot and sister-in-law Natalie Barrett. Michael’s groomsmen were his brother Christopher Woodberry, and best friends Luke Carpenter and Brad Taylor.
“Everything on the day went perfectly,” Kate said.
“Except when it was Natalie’s turn to walk down the aisle a bird pooped right on her flowers and she just kept on going.
“And the night before the wedding, we had massive thunderstorms and rain, but by lunch time on our wedding it was perfect so that we could have our garden ceremony.”
While the pair are yet to honeymoon, they have booked a trip to Port Douglas in early September and can’t wait.
