Tears and shears as locks get the chop

WHEN Sheyanne Aspinall cut off her long blond locks last week to donate to a wig charity, she started to resemble her aunt who died of ovarian cancer last year.
It was a touching moment for her mum Lee Aspinall who shed a few tears as her 13-year-old’s silky tresses dropped to the floor.
She wanted to cut off her hair and donate it to charity – to help make a wig for someone with cancer who has lost their hair.
It’s an impressive feat for the young teen, and her mum Lee is proud of her daughter.
“She wants to give back – she says there are people who are worse off than her,” Lee said.
The staff at Flinch Hair and Beauty in Pakenham were only too willing to help Sheyanne make the transformation and Lee said they were always helpful.
“They always make you feel comfortable and relaxed so we thought we would ask them to do it,” Lee said.
While Sheyanne wasn’t nervous at the start, the Year 8 student at Pakenham Secondary College did get a little teary as hairdresser Stacey Heus did the final chop.
But Sheyanne said she was happy with her new look and her mum also saw the bright side.
“Does this mean all of the hair ties are mine now?” Lee said.
