Hand-made Christmas

Pakenham's Justin James has decorated his house for the third year and will seel donations from visitors.

A HAND-MADE Christmas is the aim for some, but most wouldn’t think of a hand-made animated Christmas display for their house.
Justin James has decorated his house for the third year and has hand-made most of the display.
“Last year I started in July because it is 100 per cent handmade,” he said.
“This year only took a couple of weekends.”
Mr James has partnered with three other homes on his street and will be seeking donations from festive visitors.
“We want to bring some happiness outside of the normal commercialism of Christmas,” he said.
“Last year we got quite a few people along and so thought it would be to help a charity.”
Redkite, a charity which supports children and young people with cancer and their families, was chosen.
“It’s one of the lesser-known charities so I thought it might help raise awareness about a smaller one that doesn’t get enough publicity, particularly at Christmas.”
The lights will be on every night until Christmas from 8.30pm in Whitely Way, Pakenham.
All donations will be passed on to Redkite.
