MAREE’S Fitness and Personal Training charity car cruise was run last Saturday, receiving an overwhelming amount of support.
Shauna Smith, the 19-year-old who runs Maree’s Fitness, was ecstatic with the turnout for the event which saw over 150 people attend, from which the proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“More attended the cruise then I thought, which was fantastic!” Shauna said.
So far the charity cruise raised $550 but they are still taking donations until Thursday, December 2012 and expect to increase the amount.
The cruise began at Narre Warren and finished at Sorrento Beach, passing through Cranbourne, Frankston and Rye on the way.
“The weather turned out fantastic, it was an awesome day for the event, however even if it did rain the event would still go ahead, as it’s for the kids,” Shauna said.
“Because even when it’s sunny or raining, they still smile.”
Overall the cruise itself took 1 hour and 30 minutes but due to breaks for dinner and other stops the event didn’t conclude until well into the night. The event was registered with the local police and saw a range of vehicles involved, including four-wheel drives and bikes.
Shauna would like to thank everyone who supported and participated in the charity car cruise and looks forward to undertaking more activities next year.
“I’m so proud and very happy with the outcome,” she said.
“So far we have captured 160-plus photos from the event, which will be memories to cherish forever.”
