STOP the drop.
That was the message last week when Narre Warren South P-12 College officially launched a new program aiming to stop students from littering.
Early years coordinator Elene Archbold said the ‘Stop the Drop’ campaign promoted better environmental practices and encouraged students to put their rubbish in the bin instead of on the ground.
Ms Archbold said the Oak Grove Community Centre in Narre Warren had donated $100 for the program and Springfield Ward councillor Michael Farley had donated a further $300 to the project.
Prep to grade four students took part in Wednesday’s activities and helped clean up the schoolyard.
Cr Farley visited the school on Wednesday to see how the funding was being put to use and also judged a special poster competition that promoted anti-littering throughout the school.
Ms Archbold said with more than 1800 students, their school needed to keep on top of litter and instil a strong message that dropping rubbish was not acceptable.
