Into the swim of the Games

The Narre Warren and Hampton Park swim centres kicked off the Swimland Games on Monday with a host of pool-based activities focused on the upcoming Games.
More than 2000 swim students enjoyed gymnastic, equestrian, basketball and hurdles activities and, at the end of each half-hour lesson, medal presentations took place and the Australian national anthem was played.
For the equestrian events children rode their horses (swim noodles) and raced around an obstacle course.
Students also played basketball with two basketball rings placed at each side of the pool and some budding gymnasts performed handstands, somersaults and forward rolls in the water.
Both centres were decked out in green-and-gold streamers for the special event.
During the Games celebrations more than 3000 children from the Casey area and swim students will have a great time getting into the Games spirit.
