Cranbourne juniors bat well

CRANBOURNE Cricket Club senior sides were washed out on day one of round 11 after brief sessions of play, but junior matches were unaffected and the young batsmen performed creditably.

Cranbourne batted first and Aaron Morison retired on 63 not out and Jason Hameeteman made 32 in a total of 8/237.

In a remarkable effort, Cranbourne defeated Hampton Park outright on the first day, Brad Stephens making a dominant 48 when Cranbourne batted. Martin Kelly then took 5/10 in the first innings and Aaron Straighair 5/6 in the second, ripping through the Hampton Park batting.

Cranbourne’s bowlers bowled well restricting Berwick to 161, Will Hameeteman being pick of the bowlers with 2/19.

Cranbourne bowled out Narre North for 144.

Cranbourne made an impressive 217, R. Jones (64) and D. Baker (36 not out) being best of the batsmen.

All Cranbourne’s bowlers did exceptionally well, dismissing Doveton North for 125. M. LeGallienne was best with 3/5 and S. Demel and J. Poole picked up two wickets apiece.

Cranbourne complied 161, Adam Hanger making 36 and Mat Weller 28 not out.

Crasnbourne was in a winning position, bowling out Doveton for 108.
D. Crawford, T. Brooks and R. Healy each took two wickets. The Blues in reply were 1/55 at the close with J. Baker 27 not out.

Cranbourne’s batsmen put up an impressive performance, making 8/235. K. Twite made a superb 53 not out and N. Lambden an impressive 49 not out. C. Dinger (37) was the other main contributor.

Cranbourne compiled 102 and J. Ciantar (28 not out) was the sole retiree.

Against Narre Warren North, Cranbourne made 7/157 in a good team batting effort, T. Jellie making 55 not out and W. McIndle 16.

Batting against Buckley Ridges, Cranbourne finished 6/203 in a good consistent effort. B. Parker made 31 not out, H. Miller 21 and J. Stockdale 21 not out.
