Narre Warren bowls success

THERE were limited but successful activities at Narre Warren Bowls Club last week due to pennant competition recess.
Wednesday was a mixed three-bowl pairs draw for partners and there was a good turn up.
The winners were R. Naughton, I. Brotherton (s). Runners-up were L. O’Brien, N. Bell (s). Best last-game winners were H. Henneman, B. Potter (s).
Saturday’s mixed social bowls winners were R. Pigdon, P. O’Day, G. Manifold (s). Runners-up were W. Harringsma, L. Metaxas, M. Olden (s).
On Friday, 24 February Narre Warren ran its ladies invitation fours with the VLBA president Bev Shanahan as guest.
After many cancellations due to the forecasted hot weather 24 teams took to the greens. The program was reduced to two 11 ends with further reduction to nine ends after consultation with the weather bureau later on.
Teams from Berwick, Cranbourne RSL, Dande City, Dande RSL/Rec, Drouin, Garfield, Frankston RSL, Keysborough, Kooweerup, Noble Park, Pakenham, Somerville, Warragul, Wonthaggi took place with the winners for the day being the Dande RSL/Rec team of P. Wood, R. Richardson, L. Moore, D. Camilleri (s).
Runners-up were Wonthaggi team of D. McGann, P. Wintrup, G. Scanlon, C. Thorn (s). Best first game RSL/Rec team of B. Sewell, M. Kelly, B. Hay, L. Sledzik (s).
Best second game was Narre Warren team with president Bev, M. Clancy, N. Pugh, E. Gibb (s).
