WHEN little Bailey James Taylor Casbolt entered the world on 26 January this year his birth held double significance.
Bailey was the City of Casey’s only Australia Day baby for 2006 and his arrival meant that the Casbolt family name would carry on for yet another generation.
Ecstatic Narre Warren South parents Scott and Dianne said they were delighted that their little bundle of joy was born on such a significant day and that he would now grow up to carry on the Casbolt name.
On Tuesday the Lions Club of Cranbourne, acting on behalf of the Australia Day Council, visited the Casbolts and presented little Bailey with a silver spoon to commemorate his special birth date.
Lions president Michael Shepherdson said it was amazing, considering Casey parents were producing one of the highest birth rates in the country, that only one birth had been recorded in southern Casey on Australia Day.
Bailey is the first child for the Casbolts and was born at the South Eastern Private Hospital in Noble Park, weighing about 3.4 kilograms.
Ms Casbolt said giving birth on Australia Day had made Bailey’s arrival even more special.
“It is pretty amazing and a real added bonus,” she said.
“Not many people can say they get a public holiday for their birthday.”
Ms Casbolt said Bailey’s grandparents were equally ecstatic about his arrival.
“They are over the moon, particularly because if my husband had not had a boy his name would have died off.
“The silver spoon will be something very special for Bailey and he will always be able to keep it and look back at it,” she said.
