Three stabbed at party

THREE teenagers were violently stabbed on Saturday when an alcohol-fuelled brawl erupted at an Endeavour Hills party.
More than 150 teenagers flocked to a John Hunter Drive home after the unsupervised party was advertised on the Internet.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ian Wilcox of Narre Warren CIU said there had been no security arranged and no parents in attendance.
Det Sen Sgt Wilcox said a fight had broken out about 10.45pm in nearby Rod Lavin Reserve and three teenagers had been stabbed.
He said a 16-year-old boy from Dandenong had received stab wounds to the stomach during the violent altercation and was taken to The Alfred Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
“A 14-year-old from Dandenong received stab wounds to the arm and was taken to Dandenong Hospital and a 15-year-old from Endeavour Hills was stabbed in the stomach and taken to Dandenong Valley Hospital.”
Det Sen Sgt Wilcox said another 15-year-old from Dandenong North had suffered a minor stab wound but did not seek medical treatment.
“This does highlight what can happen when there are no controls and you don’t know who is going to be there,” he said. “I hope people learn from this.”
Sergeant Andrea Winfield of Endeavour Hills police said she attended the party that was run by a 17-year-old while his parents were away.
Sgt Winfield said many of the teenagers were extremely intoxicated, so much so that some did not realise they had been stabbed.
She said the party had tied up many police resources including two units from the Narre Warren Criminal Investigation Unit, police vans and units from both Endeavour Hills and Narre Warren and Casey’s Traffic Management Unit.
A nearby neighbour, who did not want to be named, said he and his father had discovered a drunken teenager in their back yard who had been violent towards them before leaving with friends. The 27-year-old said his family had seen the fight begin and believed there was a definite “racial element” to the violence.
“The fight broke out between two groups and there were knives everywhere and people were being stabbed – it was quite crazy,” he said. “I heard people swearing and yelling out the words ‘Serbs’ and ‘Albanians’.
“We knew of the party as they came and informed us. This was very courteous of them to begin with, but when there were around 150 teenagers in the streets things got out of hand.
“They obviously had no idea it would turn out like this and were very apologetic on Sunday.”
Two other residents said bottles had been strewn across nearby nature strips and front lawns, and they were disappointed by the violence.
“There is enough war in the world without stuff like this,” they said. “They did tell us (about the party) but it just got out of hand.
“It was totally ridiculous. There were people everywhere, some even standing in the pouring rain with umbrellas. With the SMS and Internet the word gets around and before you know it everyone is here.
“People should not let the public know or advertise the fact they are having parties.”
