A TRUCK driver had a lucky escape after a blown-out tyre sent him veering across the Princes Highway at Pakenham yesterday (Wednesday).
The truck was carrying a load of saw logs from Gippsland, which were loosened in the incident.
Earthmoving machinery was required to put the logs back in place.
The tyre blow-out sent the truck careering across to the embankment on the west-bound lane, but police and emergency service workers said the truck driver was unharmed.
They said the driver had kept his cool in what could have been a tragic incident.
Pakenham police and Pakenham Road Rescue Unit attended the scene.
VicRoads also helped divert traffic along the highway after the incident about 7.30am.
