AUSTRALIAN Idol winner Guy Sebastian treated more than 1,000 people to a taste of Africa recently when he sang at the Casey City Church in Berwick.
The talented vocalist took to the stage during the Out of Africa performance, singing and talking about his recent trip to Africa with World Vision.
He shared his personally captured photos with the packed auditorium as well as performing his hits Angels Brought Me Here, All I Need is You and Falling in Love with Jesus.
The African-inspired church meeting also featured ushers dressed in leopard-patterned clothing as well as a comical caricature of Mr Sebastian in a large pot flanked by spear-wielding tribesmen.
Mr Sebastian spoke of the contrasting African culture and how he had expected the experience to be somewhat depressing because of the poverty-stricken country.
He said he was surprised to learn that the people had a lot of joy despite their circumstances.
Mr Sebastian said children as young as five could dance better than him and they put him to shame.
“They had the whole Beyonce booty shaking thing going on. Everywhere the team went we were greeted by singing and dancing,” he said.
The night ended with the senior pastor of Casey City Church, Larry Sebastian – Guy’s uncle – and several others from local churches praying for Mr Sebastian.
