Triple treat for Hampton Park

IT was a great triple for Hampton Park with the VLBA, SDELBA and RVBA teams each winning in their divisions over the past week.
It all started on Tuesday with the ladies A2 team playing Dandenong RSL/Rec at home.
Sheila Scothorne, Lorna Hayes, Geri Graafsma and skip Heather Naismith took control early and held out a last-minute rush to win by nine shots.
With a slim lead early, Dot Carr, Joyce Cameron, Ray Wood and skip Mary Hose stretched the lead out to 17 shots.
Gail Wilcock, Grace Hogan, Chris Hendrie and skip Ann Westwell played shot for shot, winning by just four.
It was a strong finish by the RSL/Rec team to just edge out Rhonda Diaper, Mavis Kelly, Ellen Smith and skip Gwen Clough by two shots.

On Tuesday evening, the Parkers travelled to Black Rock to play Sandringham.
Robert Naismith led his team of Keith McCarthy, Heather Naismith and Werner Melzer to a big comeback to go down by nine shots.
A good 14-shot win by Lino Da Pos, Chris Hendrie, Ray Leggett and skip Neville Hendrie set the stage for a very close overall finish.
Even though Jim Westwell, Ann Westwell, Lance Davis and skip Graham Slight went down by three shots, restricting the opposition to only singles gave the Parkers the overall by two.
SATURDAY RESULTS
The trip by division four to Bennettswood was an exciting game with an average of five shots separating the two teams for most of the day.
Hampton Park made the breakthrough on the final ends to get over the line by 12 shots.
One shot clear on end 20 had Allan March, Andrew Brandolin, Lance Davis and skip Graham Slight digging deep to pull off a 12 shot win.
John Scothorne, Bill Tannahill, Fred McBrian and skip Neville Hendrie won the last eight ends in a cliffhanger by one with the last shot.
In a game where everything went right, Ray Wood, Lino Da Pos, Keith Damon and skip Robert Naismith cruised to a 23-shot win.
Gerry Cox, Alan Unwin, David Hendrie and Skip Geoff Ladner did not have the same luck. A loss by 24 shots did not dull their enthusiasm as they cheered the drive on the last end to get two shots.
INVITATION FOURS
The Presidents invitation fours were held on Sunday and was a resounding success.
The ladies were thanked for organising the hall, lunches and afternoon tea.
Ellen Conway (ladies president at Carrum) won the spider and Mary Hose won the ditch to ditch.
The best last-game winner was L. Davis, A. Unwin, L. Unwin and M. Hose. Runners-up for the day were Carley, Bill, Fred and Ellen from Carrum with 46 points.
The clear winners were the Ferntree Gully team on 52 points. N. Skinner, N. MacDougall, J. Dick and M. Inchley won 22 of 30 ends.
