Robbers hit arcade

– Sarah Schwager
THIEVES targeted shops in Pakenham’s Manhattan Arcade last week, with three burglaries in one night.
Between 5.15pm on 10 January and 7.50am on 11 January, three shops were broken into at the arcade off Main Street in Pakenham.
Police said the front window of a jewellery shop was smashed with a concrete block.
The block was thrown at the window and landed on a couch in the shop, damaging shelves in the process.
The thieves then reached through the window and stole jewellery from a display shelf, including boxes of watches and pearls.
Two other premises were broken into about the same time, including a hairdresser where cash was taken.
Police appealed for witnesses to contact Pakenham CIU on 5941 1033.
