Putting hoons in the bin

PAKENHAM bins could have 50 speed signs strewn across them in an attempt to keep the road toll down.
Cardinia Councillor Collin Ross will put a plan to make available “50 in my street” stickers to all residents in the Shire to his fellow councillors next week in an attempt to bring down the road toll.
“As a councillor on the Cardinia Shire Council, it is extremely important to see safe driving in our area,” Cr Ross said. “Fifty in my street stickers on residents’ bins is a way to get the community involved in reminding drivers of a suitable speed to drive in residential streets.”
He said the bins, put out weekly, would act as a low cost mobile speed sign.
“This will allow the community to actively be working together against speeding drivers,” he said.
Cr Ross will put the initiative to his fellow councillors at the council meeting on Monday night. “It’s a huge step,” he said.
“Our neighbours the City of Casey are doing it since 2007, and it’s something we should look at too.”
