Warning on Aldi bread

CASEY residents have been warned not to eat a specific brand of bread bought, which was sold through Aldi Stores last week.
Bakers Life Multigrain Sandwich sliced bread (650g), which was baked on Friday 7 October and only sold in Aldi Stories across Victoria the same day, was withdrawn from sale due to contamination, Victoria’s chief health officer Dr John Carnie said.
“People should not eat this product and should either discard it or return it to the point of purchase for a refund,” Dr Carnie said. “The bread, with a best before date of October 12, could be contaminated with plastic fragments. It is possible the bread may cause injury if consumed.”
Dr Carnie said anyone who had consumed the bread and felt unwell should contact their local GP. “At this stage there have been no reports of illness associated with this product,” Dr Carnie said.
Aldi and the manufacturer are cooperating fully with the department.
