Call for youth ambassadors

AFTER the success of the 2011 National Youth Week in April, young people from across the City of Casey are encouraged to apply to be the 2012 Victorian National Youth Week young member.
The role allows a young person to be a part of the National Youth Week team and to represent young people Victoria during National Youth Week in April 2012.
National Youth Week is a chance for young people to celebrate their contribution to the community and have their voices heard. It is Australia’s biggest youth event and is run in April each year to showcase the contributions and talents of young people across the community.
Gembrook MP Brad Battin said he was looking forward to next year and hoped more enthusiastic young Victorians, aged 16 to 25, would apply.
“These young people play a vital role in shaping and determining the success of National Youth Week,” Mr Battin said.
“They are involved in all aspects of planning, developing, implementing and promoting National Youth Week across Australia so more young people can become interested and involved in their own community.”
The 2011 National Young Week young member, Laura John, said it was great to play a key role during the week.
“I loved it. The whole experience, planning, training and then the actual week has given me a whole new range of skills,” Ms John said.
Minister for Youth Affairs Ryan Smith said he encouraged all young Victorians to get involved and apply for the 2012 young member role.
