THERE will be plenty of opportunities for Casey residents to shop, donate and participate at a new shop in Narre Warren North.
Residents attended the Grand Opening of the Narre Warren Op Shop on Friday at the Narre Warren North Uniting Church.
City of Casey mayor Shar Balmes unveiled a plaque to commemorate the occasion.
Minister Mat Harry said the Op Shop was an appropriate name for the new community venture.
“It will create many opportunities for community connections and service to be strengthened,” Mr Harry said.
“There is an opportunity for you to assist the local community by donating goods, collecting a bargain or volunteering in the old fashioned Op Shop.
Mr Harry said the Op Shop would have fantastic bargains at old fashioned Op Shop prices; good quality clothing, bric-a-brac, books, CDs and second hand Narre North Primary School uniforms with all proceeds to go to the school. He said there would be opportunities to donate goods locally and opportunities to participate.
Some of the other proceeds raised at the Op Shop will be used to financially support community groups and projects.
Mr Harry said they welcomed people to donate clean and good quality clothing, bric-a-brac, books, CDs and small items of furniture, which could be delivered to the Op Shop during opening hours.
Anyone wanting to be a volunteer in the Op Shop can call Carolee on 9700 5061.
The shop is located in the hall of the Uniting Church at the corner of Main Sreet and Tom Jones Court, and is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am until 3pm and on Saturday from 9 am until 1pm.
