Comedian on a roll

By Lia Bichel
AWARD-winning comedian Damian Callinan is sure to have audiences rolling in laughter at his up-coming performances in Casey.
The TV sketch show star broadcaster, director, actor and writer will perform The Merger at three locations across the municipality in July.
In a sequel to his multi-award winning Sportsman’s Night, Damian revisits the dysfunctional Bodgy Creek Roosters Football Club.
He tells the Roosters’ story in a series of hilarious character monologues, from Tu the ethnic flautist, to boisterous brute Bull Barlow the Roosters’ president, to his cinematically-inclined grandson Neil.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes said the show is part of the City of Casey’s annual Winter Arts Program, with more than 60 council-run and community arts events and activities being held throughout the municipality in July.
“I encourage people who already support the arts, and those who may not currently seek out arts events to attend, to take a look at the wide range of activities on offer,” Cr Balmes said.
“The Merger is just one of a number of very entertaining events available as part of the month-long arts program.”
Performances may contain coarse language and material that can offend. The merger is not recommended for children under the age of 15.
Bookings are now open for the three shows on 16 July at the Tooradin Football Club, 62 South Gippsland Highway, Tooradin; 23 July, Berwick Football Club on Manuka Road, Berwick; and Casey Fields Sports Club at Casey Fields, Cranbourne East. Cost is $20. For more information on the Winter Arts Program or to make a booking for
The Merger, contact City of Casey Customer Service on 9705 5200 or visit council’s website at www.casey.vic.gov.ay/arts.
This opportunity is provided by the Casey Arts Participation Initiative (CAPI), a three-year project funded by VicHealth through the Localities Enhancing Arts Participation Funding Program.
