A MAN was bound with tape and seriously assaulted in Berwick last week.
Police are searching for more information about the violent crime, which occurred between 9pm and 10pm on 29 April.
Police went to Viewgrand Drive after receiving a report that a man had been stabbed. They arrived to find a 25-year-old man from Newborough covered in blood and hiding under a car. He had received injuries to his right ear, lacerations and cuts and bruises, and a suspected broken collarbone.
Senior Detective Adam Ferguson said police later established the man had been bound with electrical tape and hit over the head with a pole, but he had not been stabbed as previously reported.
The man was taken by ambulance to The Alfred hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Det Sen Ferguson said police believed up to three people were involved in the assault, which they said did not appear to be a random attack.
Anyone who has any information about this violent crime is urged to contact Det Sen Adam Ferguson on 9705 3114.
