SCHOOL students across Casey can look forward to singing and dancing in this year’s Rock Eisteddfod Challenge.
The challenge allows students to showcase their talents through dance and music-based commentary on their lives and important issues in our society.
Parliamentary Secretary for Education Inga Peulich said the event was under serious threat last year after the Brumby Government could not guarantee future funding, leaving many schools in Casey in limbo.
She said she welcomed the news that the Baillieu Government was providing sponsorship of $200,000 for the dance, drama and design spectacular.
She said the news would be welcomed by the many Casey students, teachers and school communities participating in the annual event.
“The $200,000 for the coming event is part of our $800,000 commitment over four years that the Baillieu Government promised before the election,” Ms Peulich said. “Students, teachers and the wider school community will once again have the opportunity to work together rehearsing and building sets in a 100 percent drug and alcohol-free environment.”
