THE Baillieu Coalition Government has reintroduced fee concessions for young people aged 25 years and under who are studying for diplomas or advanced diplomas at Victorian TAFE Institutes.
Students may be eligible for a tuition fee concession if they are under the age of 25 as of 1 January 2011, enrolled in a government subsidised diploma or advanced diploma course at a TAFE institute or in possession of a Commonwealth Health Care Card.
Gembrook MP Brad Battin said more than 3500 young Victorians had already taken up the initiative.
He said the implementation of concession fee places had been fast-tracked to ensure students enrolling in new courses in 2011 would benefit.
“This concession encourages young people from lower income families to undertake training, ensuring a brighter future for our youth,” Mr Battin said.
TAFE students are encouraged to contact their TAFE Enrolment Officer to see if they are eligible for the concession.
