NATIONAL Youth Week is here again and there will be no shortage of events in the City of Casey when it kicks off early next month.
Casey’s National Youth Week program provides young people with a range of entertainment, fun activities and the opportunity to come together and share ideas about the issues that affect them.
City of Casey mayor Shar Balmes is encouraging young people to participate and celebrate their contribution to the community.
The theme of this year’s Youth Week is ‘own it’, with many young locals organising and promoting the events themselves.
City of Casey manager of Youth and Family Services, Colette McMahon said young people would definitely ‘own’ Youth Week this year.
“I’m so impressed with the young people who have joined us in organising events this year. They’re full of passion and energy and have made a great contribution,” she said.
Events throughout the week include BMX and skate competitions, free movie screenings, art competitions and a range of musical performances.
All events are fully supervised and are drug, alcohol and smoke free.
Nation Youth Week runs from Friday April 1 to Sunday April 10.
