POLICE are investigating a spate of burglaries and attempted burglaries in the City of Casey last week.
On 22 February, between 6.30am and 3.15pm, jewellery, electronics and tools were stolen from a Tralee Circuit house in Narre Warren.
Police said the side door of the house was forced open and assorted jewellery and two laptops were stolen. A tool box and power tools were also stolen from the garage. Police said the total value of the stolen items was $5500.
On the same day, between 8am and 5.50pm, there was an attempted burglary at a house on Duff Street, Cranbourne. Police said there was an unsuccessful attempted to gain entry to the house by forcing the flywire of a side window. Entry wasn’t gained and no items were stolen.
A similar incident occurred at a Cranbourne business between noon on 19 February and 7.30am on 21 February. Police said the rear door of Physioworks on Cranbourne Place, was jemmied, but entry wasn’t gained and no items were stolen.
Detective Senior Constable Mark Weiderhold said the burglaries were “not necessarily” related.
He urged people to stay alert and contact police if they noticed any suspicious behaviour.
“These incidents occur-red during the day,” he said.
“(Casey residents) should just keep an eye out for their neighbours and let us know if there is anything suspicious.”
Anyone with information about incidents or any other burglaries and attempted burglaries can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Narre Warren police station on 9705 3111.
