Backing for clean-up

I HAVE to agree with locals concerning the the article Hampton Park Neglected (News, 6 January).
This particular site could and should be cleaned within 24 hours. It is dangerous, attracts undesirable behaviour and impacts negatively on area amenity, character and morale.
Eighteen months ago, this paper did an article when I was asked back then, by locals, to intervene and have the area cleaned of graffiti, broken glass, needles etc. A clean-up began – in part only.
Fencing should also have been replaced at that time, and the area needs urgent attention – again.
Locals are not destroying the area, and locals should not have to put up with this eyesore.
Come on Casey, please help out your residents and keep this area clean of graffiti, needles and rubbish, and make it safe.
Steve Beardon,
Cranbourne.
