POLICE say air bags saved serious injury when a 4WD flipped and landed on a stationary car in Pearcedale last week.
Four cars were damaged during a collision at the corner of Robinsons Road and Dandenong Hastings Road about noon on 22 November. Senior Constable Leigh Moss said two cars collided at the intersection, which caused a Volkswagen 4WD to flip and land on the roof of a stationary Ford Falcon sedan waiting at Robinsons Road.
The Ford was pushed backwards and hit another car, police said, while the 4WD rolled off the Ford and landed on its side.
Sen Const Moss said it was lucky no one was seriously injured during the collision.
“It was a fairly new 4WD and all the curtain airbags went off inside and I’m certain that it saved serious injury,” Sen Const Moss said. Four people were taken to hospitals at Dandenong and Frankston, but their injuries were not serious, Sen Const Moss said.
