Marooned on lake

A MAN was rescued by the Air Wing after he got stranded trying to retrieve a toy boat in Berwick Springs Lake on the weekend.
About 5.40pm on 6 November, police were called to the Berwick Springs Lake to rescue the man, 35, who was stranded on a pontoon and unable to make it back to shore.
Police believe the man had stripped down to his underwear and waded into the water in an attempt to retrieve a remote control boat with a flat battery.
The police Air Wing was called to the scene and successfully winched the man to safety.
The man, from Carrum Downs, was taken to Casey Hospital suffering effects from the cold water and for observation.
The remote control boat was last seen drifting off into the sunset and police are urging anyone who may see debris of the boat not to swim and try and retrieve.
