Fun day just keeps growing

By BRIDGET SCOTT

THE Royal Botanic Gardens at Cranbourne kept people busy yesterday as the annual family fun day rolled around again.
In a first for the event, free shuttle buses ran to the garden between 9am and 4pm to help ensure nobody missed out.
Presented by the Royal Botanic Gardens in conjunction with South East Water and the City of Casey, families took part in a range of activities with included a magic show, snake handler, art and craft sessions, potting up a plant, storytelling, South East Water’s popular Wall of Buckets game, and more.
Cranbourne Gardens director Chris Russell said the day had quickly become a must-do for families throughout the area.
“Now in its fifth year, the family fun day is a great day out for the whole family,” he said.
“Not only is it lots of fun for the kids, it’s also a great opportunity to chat with the gardens’ experts and get lots of hints and tips about plant selection, water use, and how to keep your garden looking good in a dry climate.”
