AS THE Pakenham Silverbacks juniors prepare for the final game of their debut Gridiron Victoria season this weekend, word is quickly getting around about the club’s rookie introduction session and family barbecue to be held on Saturday.
Anyone thinking about giving gridiron a go next year should head down to the session at Lakeside Park, off Arbour Rise in Pakenham to learn the fundamentals from former NFL running back Reggie McGill and former Arena Football wide receiver Mike Richmond.
The session starts at 11am and will be followed by the Silverbacks’ family barbecue from noon. The cost is $10 per adult and $5 per child and that includes barbecue lunch and a can of soft drink.
The junior Silverbacks will face off against local rivals, the Berwick Miners on Sunday from 3.30pm at Sydney Pargeter Reserve in Endeavour Hills in their final game of the 2014 season.
