Another step in the growth of Lakeside College took place recently with the inaugural language and cultural trip to Germany.
Thirteen Year 8, 9 and 10 students packed their Aussie spirit and, under the guidance of experienced staff, travelled to Germany at the end of term three and throughout the school holidays.
Their travelling program was action packed and was designed so that students could take in every possible opportunity to see, listen, taste and smell everything Germany had to offer.
However, more importantly, students also experienced outstanding successes in being able to deepen intercultural learning and understanding as well as enhance their German language skills.
Students gained an excellent insight into facets of German life through a four-day homestay in Detmold and extensive travelling in southern, central and northern Germany.
Students said there were many highlights.
“My favourite part of the trip would be seeing and experiencing all of the different cities, getting to see their beautiful monuments plus the shopping – amazing!” Emily from Year 8 said.
“A part of the trip that I really enjoyed was seeing the Berlin Wall,” Chloe from Year 9 said.
“I enjoyed the new experience, it was great to build stronger relationships with people. Germany was one of the best experiences I have ever had,” Alicia from Year 8 said.
Students of Lakeside College will have the opportunity to participate in the next German trip planned for 2016.
