Beacy’s dangerous day

Beaconsfield residents have witnessed two troubling incidents on 6 June that have raised concerns about public safety in the area.

In the early afternoon, police responded to a violent road rage incident on Beaconsfield-Emerald Road. Two male drivers left their vehicles and became involved in a physical altercation, during which one man was assaulted and sustained minor injuries.

Several members of the public came to the victim’s aid, with reports of a firearm being sighted, although no threats were made.

The offender fled the scene in the Kia, and despite police conducting a thorough search of the area, neither the vehicle nor the suspect could be located.

Robert Shannon, business owner of Scentric recalled seeing two men trying to stop cars near the intersection of Beaconsfield-Emerald Road and Princess Highway.

“We were driving past on the way to post our daily orders when two guys ran out onto the road trying to wave people down,” he said.

“I didn’t stop because you hear about carjacking. Just all seemed very odd at the time and had no idea what was going on.”

Another witness described the incident as “an awful physical assault” and expressed hope the victim recovers.

Others recalled seeing numerous police and emergency vehicles in Beaconsfield, unaware at the time that it was linked to a violent road rage incident.

Later that evening, a group of teens targeted two bottle shops on Old Princes Highway shortly before 8pm.

Once inside, the teens stole numerous bottles of alcohol before fleeing, with no threats or weapons involved.

Locals took to social media to condemn both incidents and urge others to stay vigilant. Their response reflects growing concerns about crime and public safety in the community.

“Just another day in Melbourne,” a Pakenham local shared.

Police continue to investigate both incidents and urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
