Car fire on Princes Freeway

Inbound traffic on the Princes Freeway came to a stand still at midday on Wednesday 12 July as a car was reportedly engulfed in flames.

Emergency services responded to an incident just before 12pm located just after the inbound exist of Cardinia Road on Princes Freeway.

It is reported that a collision occurred where a subsequently car burst into flames.

The emergency response required three inbound lanes to be closed, commuters posted online to warn others to avoid the freeway as others reported taking up to 50 minutes to get through the back up of traffic.

A woman involved believed to be in her 20’s was taken to Monash Health Casey for minor injuries in a stable condition.

The Gazette understands the scene was under control before 1pm.
