DeLisle and Whalley tough it out

LYN Whalley catapulted herself into the Cranbourne Bowling Club record books just before Christmas when she captured her third consecutive Ladies Club Championship.
Whalley’s 27-11 win over Yvonne Van Der Wees was a lot tougher than the score-line may indicate. All ends were close and keenly fought with Whalley’s championship experience coming to the fore at crucial moments.
Her win in the 2011/2012 edition of the event gave her a hat-trick of wins and equals the club record.
In the Men’s section it was Peter DeLisle who won a classic encounter against Steve Bentley to win his first Men’s Club Championship. The title went down to the wire.
Both men went neck and neck for the duration of the final finding themselves locked at 24-all with one end remaining. A one shot victory on the final end gave DeLisle a much deserved win after many years of trying.
An exceptionally high standard of bowls was seen throughout the day and all four bowlers are to be congratulated on their success.
