A QUICK-THINKING Year 5 student used his best detective skills to alert police when he saw some teens misbehaving.
Pakenham Hills Primary School student Dylan May won the Cardinia Community Youth Award after he rang Triple- zero three weeks ago when he saw teenagers doing some criminal damage.
He managed to provide a detailed description to police, and his shrewdness helped police identify the offenders.
Leading senior constable Helen Marsham presented Dylan with the award at a school presentation on Friday 11 November.
“We are very proud of him,” teacher and student well-being co-ordinator Paul Taylor said.
“Dylan only just moved into the area, he’s only been at the school for five weeks.”
The Year 5 student was given a certificate and a $50 Target voucher for his detective skills.
“His mum was very surprised that he would do something like that. It was really good for him coming into a new community to do something like that,” Mr Taylor said.
