In excess of 150 people turned up to the Hallam Senior Citizens Centre to witness City of Casey mayor Shar Balmes present the cheque for a volunteer grant to Kim Hasan, who runs the club.
Ms Hasan said the money was a welcome addition to the club’s limited finances and will go towards helping the volunteers with petrol fees and office supplies such as a new filing cabinet, microphone, speakers and a food trolley.
“The grant helps us a lot and the money will go towards the needs of the seniors, which is much appreciated.”
She said everyone had a marvellous time at the lunch and encourages more people to join the Hampton Park Turkish Seniors.
“It was a really good day, the seniors loved it and we danced the day away,” she said.
“Everyone is welcome and they don’t have to be Turkish, as long as they’re from the City of Casey.”
