Sporting gesture

ATHLETIC groups and organisations are encouraged to apply for grants through the Significant Sporting Events Program.
The Significant Sporting Events Program is aimed at helping sporting, community and event organisations deliver significant sporting events in Victoria.
There are two grants though the program. One is the Event Support Grants worth up to $50,000 to support operational costs of an event and the other is the Event Initiatives worth up to $350,000 to enhance existing or new events to boost their profiles.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP Inga Peulich said the program would provide funding for events that hold regional significance and even ones with a national or international focus, and were recognised by the relevant sporting authorities.
“Our hope is to attract events that will bring in events that will encourage visitor attendance from outside of Victoria who contribute to the state’s economic prosperity,” Ms Peulich said.
