WORKERS at MadCap Café had a special visit from federal politicians last week who discussed a major funding boost which will support people with severe mental illnesses.
Minister for Families Jenny Macklin and La Trobe MP Laura Smyth visited the Fountain Gate café on Tuesday 17 May.
The Federal Government announced in this year’s budget that it will be providing a $269.3 million national funding boost for community mental health services which will be rolled out progressively from January next year.
The MadCap Café, operated by the Eastern Regions Mental Health Association, provides a safe, flexible and understanding work environment for people with mental illnesses during their recovery.
