Charges after crime spree

POLICE arrested three men and a boy who were believed to be involved in a 24-hour rampage across Melbourne’s south east.
Police allege the four were involved in a series of robberies, assaults, thefts and a high-speed police chase.
The police believe the crime spree began with a theft of a vehicle in Narre Warren last Wednesday afternoon.
They say the group raided a pizza parlour in Dandenong 2.30pm and at 8pm were involved in an armed robbery at a Noble Park milk bar, allegedly smashing the attendant over the head with a glass bottle after he handed over money.
Police then say they robbed a man in Clayton South at 11.30pm and stole his car. They then say that at 1.45am on Thursday in Narre Warren, the gang assaulted and robbed a man who had no hands and stole his car.
At 2.40am, police said they robbed a taxi driver in Carnegie and stole his vehicle.
Police say the crime spree ended about 3am when officers chased the gang through Cheltenham, allegedly reaching speeds up to 170km/h before their vehicle was dumped near Moorabbin Airport.
The four were apprehended by members of the Dog Squad a short time later.
An 18-year-old Cranbourne North man, a 19-year-old Lynbrook man and 21-year-old Narre Warren South man fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
A 16-year-old boy is due to face a children’s court at a later date.
