TWO Berwick teenagers have been selected to participate as emergency players in the national basketball competition this July.
Jayden Bubb and Kane Annesley have bounced their way into Victorian Metro Under 16 squad after competing in a six-week try-out against 140 other boys.
Sixteen boys were selected from Metropolitan Melbourne and the Berwick pair, who have both been playing basketball for a few years, are thrilled at the opportunity to compete at a national level. They believe training and participation on all levels is a top priority and have already shown great dedication to the team.
Berwick district businesses are being asked to assist the boys and the rest of the team in their efforts to raise funds for uniforms and accommodation over the nine-day competition and months leading to the event. All donations, including goods and services, are appreciated and will be acknowledged at various fund-raising events.
All inquiries can be directed to Kirsty on 0404 422 049 and Janiene on0402 816 042.
