PEOPLE from all over Casey are showcasing their talents at the South Eastern Arts Festival (SEAF).
The music and art festival was previously known as the prestigious Dandenong Festival of Music and Art for Youth and held in Dandenong for 62 years.
SEAF President Margaret Haywood said The South Eastern Arts Festival Inc aimed to continue the friendly festival atmosphere and provided performance opportunities to amateur musicians and an exhibition for the visual artists.
Ms Haywood said all participants in the music sections received a critique from an adjudicator who was qualified and accomplished in their field. The non-competitive sections received a certificate of participation and the competitive sections received either medals, trophies and some monetary awards. In the art sections there are significant monetary awards and certificates available.The festival was officially opened today (28 April) and officially closes on 22 May at 4pm at St Margaret’s School, Berwick.
The finals of the piano diploma section and the aria will be held at the Drum Theatre, Dandenong at 5pm and 7.30pm. The piano section is sponsored by Val Wilson in memory of his wife Norma who was a piano teacher in the Dandenong area. Other music sections are at St Margaret’s School, Berwick.
The art show is on 29 and 30 April from 9am until 7pm and 1 May from 10am until 3pm at St Margaret’s, Berwick. For more information see the timetable on www.seaf.org.au
