CHILDREN in Casey can enjoy a day of activities, story-telling and a special performance from their favourite bear.
Yogi Bear will be at Akoonah Park in Berwick on 19 March for the Casey Kids Carnival. He will be performing on the main stage at 11am and 1pm.
City of Casey mayor Shar Balmes said the carnival was a free event hosted by the council to celebrate children and young people.
“The Casey Kids Carnival is a great day out for children and their families, and I encourage everyone to attend and join in the fun,” Cr Balmes said.
“For 12 years, thousands of children of all ages have flocked to the carnival and had great fun with free rides, demonstrations from community groups and sporting clubs, and children’s activities, like the ever popular face-painting and story-telling.
“This year, Yogi Bear will be on hand to meet and greet Casey’s kids, just keep an eye on your picnic baskets.”
Now in its 13th year, the 2011 Casey Kids Carnival has moved from its old location, the Old Cheese Factory, and is going to be bigger and better than ever at Akoonah Park, Berwick.
Many local performers will appear on the community stage during the carnival including choirs, singers and dance groups.
There will also be an Infants and Toddler Zone, Community and Sporting Zone with many groups conducting activities during the day, workshops, rides, and a native Australian animal farm, along with Myuna Farm animals.
The event is being held on 19 March from 10am until 4pm at Akoonah Park, Princes Highway, Berwick.
