Dream Team’s dream run

CRANBOURNE super bike rider Wayne Maxwell teamed up with excitement machine Josh Brookes to win the Bel Ray six-hour Australian Endurance Championship race at Phillip Island over the weekend.
It was a big win for the two close mates and their team GAS Honda.
Dubbed the “Dream Team”, the pair were singled out as favourites after impressing with their lighting speed during the qualifying rounds, earning the super pole, before completing 215 laps within the six hours, edging out Team Honda Racing and Team Suzuki.
The 28-year-old started his racing career at the age of 12, riding on dirt tracks and motocross till he hit 15, but it wasn’t until 1997 that he started road racing.
Among the other class winners at Phillip Island were the Triumph Australia trio of Christian Casella, John Chiodo and Aussie abroad Jed Metcher, who combined to take out the Supersport class ahead of Troy Herfoss and Brodie Waters of Team Suzuki.
