BUSINESSES have been warned not to take on social networking activities without careful thought.
That was the advice from a panel at a Casey Business Forum breakfast at Doveton Chifley on Wednesday.
Guests heard from Chisholm project manager George Ligocki, CEO of GeekIT Corporation Mary Henderson and Centre of Strategic Education consultant Robyn Treyvaud. The three panellists work in the area of social media and highlighted concerns and advantages of using the internet for business purposes.
Ms Henderson spoke of the need to dedicate time and resources to social networking for businesses to be successful.
“The most important aspects are creating, pushing and moderating content,” she said.
She said that another important strategy for successful social networking is to understand the thinking of customers.
Mr Ligocki also highlighted the advantages of using social media as a fast way for businesses to connect with a ‘pool of potential prospects’.
Casey Business Forum chairman Ross Neilson announced the forum will be open to membership independent of local business groups from next year.
