NARRE Warren Country Fire Authority (CFA) volunteer Paul Hardy goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to helping out his mates.
The deputy strike team leader was joined by Berwick CFA member Ray Carr and Narre Warren North CFA volunteer Shaun Hill on a three-day call-out to help battle the fires in Gippsland.
“We were mainly based out in the Heyfield area helping out there,” Mr Hardy said.
He said he expected to be called out either today (Thursday) or tomorrow for another three days.
Mr Hardy also praised the work of the CFA volunteers and career staff who didn’t travel but helped organise the paperwork and logistical side of the firefighting battle.
“They do a great job and sometimes because of work or whatever they are unable to go to the front line,” he said. “They all do just as an important job as us who fight the fires.”
