ROTARIANS from Narre Warren have arrived on the shores of Tonga to start work on a school renovation project worth around $20,000.
Thirteen of the club’s members left the country on 15, 22 and 25 June, geared up to spend two weeks installing lights and fencing, painting classrooms, creating ramps for wheelchair access and laying an asphalt assembly area at Ngeleia Primary School.
The trip is self-funded by the members of the Rotary Club of Narre Warren involved in the project.
A plaque will be erected at the school after the completion of the works in honour of devoted member Marion Mason who passed away from breast cancer on 13 June.
The Tonga team will return to Australia on 6 July.
