BUOYED by a recent successful operation, police will continue to monitor black spot areas in Endeavour Hills where the rate of vehicle accidents dropped by more than 75 percent.
Senior Sergeant Russell Patten from Endeavour Hills Police Station said Operation Monash was aimed at reducing collisions in black spot areas in Endeavour Hills.
Police discovered a large number of unregistered vehicles, drivers using mobile phones and drivers not wearing seat belts as part of the operation.
Sen Sgt Patten said police issued nine penalty notices on Tuesday, with the majority being for drivers using mobile phones.
“People need to change their driving habits. We want responsible drivers,” he said.
Sen Sgt Patten said there would be a higher police presence in unmarked vehicles.
“We will be rostering more traffic patrols in those areas as we are taking it very seriously,” he said.
